Handling "Not Okay" - Mark 5:25–34

Title: When You’re Not Okay: Faith, Community, and the Healing Hope of Mark 5

Everyone faces seasons when they’re not okay—stress, sickness, anxiety, or exhaustion. This week’s episode turns to Mark 5:25–34 for wisdom on how to navigate those moments. The story of the woman with the twelve-year hemorrhage is more than a miracle narrative; it’s a picture of desperate faith, compassionate love, and the healing presence of Jesus.

Her suffering wasn’t only physical. Because of the laws of her day, she lived socially disconnected and spiritually stigmatized. Yet she pushes through the crowd in faith, risking everything just to reach Jesus. His response—“Daughter, your faith has made you well”—restores not only her body but her identity.

From this passage, we learn several important truths. First, run to Jesus before anything else. Prayer isn’t a last resort; it’s the first step. Second, prepare spiritually in seasons of peace, because endurance is built before the trial hits. Third, we were created for community. Wise mentors, prayer partners, and seasoned saints help us stay grounded when life feels overwhelming.

The episode also points to the importance of caring for mental, emotional, and physical health. Seeking help is not a lack of faith—it’s wisdom. And the hope we cling to doesn’t come from circumstances changing instantly but from the God who fills us with peace, joy, and hope through the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13).

When you’re not okay, Jesus is still near, community still matters, and hope still holds.
